10 Years Younger

Look Younger by Getting Back to the Weight You Were 10 Years Ago

Getting fit and healthy is amazing for your body and self-confidence but it can also take years off your appearance and let’s face it-we all want to look younger and more youthful. Dropping a few pounds has the ability to thin out your entire body, but specifically your face which is what others normally see first. It can also reduce the appearance of fine lines and the more confident you feel, the more others will take notice. Whatever age you are now, think back to ten years ago and what your weight was then. Now make that your fitness goal moving into this New Year.

Go Shopping
Before you embark on your journey go shopping! Buy an amazing outfit of your choice in the size that you are aiming to get to. The excitement of shopping for a smaller size will be very motivating. Then hang the outfit somewhere in your room where you will see it often or take a picture of it and post it on your refrigerator so it will be a constant reminder of what weight you want to be.

Cleaning Out Shop
If you are to get back to the weight you were a decade ago there is a good chance that within the past ten years you have taken on some unhealthy habits. Now is the time to let those habits go and forge forward with new ones.

Taking unhealthy food and snacks out of the equation is a good place to start. This includes cookies, cakes and sugary drinks that you have grown to love. Switch out your soda or other high calorie drinks for water and unsweetened ice tea for a start. Everyone needs to drink at least 8 glasses of 8 ounces of water everyday so set this as one of your first goals. That alone will knock hundreds of calories off your daily intake and help you shed a few pounds. Plus, a hydrated body will improve your skin and make it more elastic while giving you back a youthful glow.

Then move on to the sweets or high calorie foods. Throw them out and replace them with fruits and veggies which are loaded with vitamins and minerals that are needed for a productive and youthful body. The additional energy you will have will play a crucial part once you incorporate fitness into your schedule. Sugary foods supply the body with spikes of energy but that energy quickly wanes and you are then left feeling tired and less motivated to get up and moving.

Let Go of Other Bad Habits
Most people have vices that help them cope with the daily stress of living. The chances are good that your vices are also aging you far too soon. Things like drinking alcohol regularly will not only pack on the pounds, the health consequences are much deeper. Alcohol dehydrates the body quicker than anything else, leaving our skin pale and dry which causes wrinkles, dark spots and forces your internal organs (liver and kidneys) to have to work overtime to get rid of the toxins of the alcohol.

Smoking will also age you as well as put you at high risk for cancer. There are thousands of poisons and toxins in a single cigarette and all of them dehydrate the body as well as seep into the skin causing acne and wrinkles. Additionally these toxins affect the cells within the body that assist with oxygen flowing through the blood vessels properly.

Collagen plays a key role in the firmness of the skin with smokers the collagen levels are drastically decreased. Lower collagen levels make the skin look pasty and bloated which will add years to your appearance.

There is no way around it; if you want to be thinner and more healthy you will have to get up and move more than you are currently, especially if you are over 30. Once we hit the age of 30 our metabolisms slow down and that means the calories you eat regularly aren’t broken down and burned off nearly as quickly as they were in your 20′s.

We gain weight by eating more calories than we work off or expend so you will need to revamp your diet plan and essentially eat fewer calories and then exercise to burn off the calories that you do take in. For every 3,000 calories that you eat, you will gain one pound of fat if none of those calories are burned off.

Go online and use a free BMI index calculator. Use your weight and your age to determine how many calories you should be consuming per day. Then find an exercise program that will work off a few hundred of those calories to get the weight loss you are looking for.
